The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a brutal movie. It’s also compelling and absorbing. This movie based on the novel by Swedish writer Stieg Larsson, originally titled Men Who Hate Women. I have no idea how great the book, but this movie totally EPIC.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the story of Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist), an investigative journalist has just been set up and convicted of libel. Out of work and waiting before he goes to jail, Blomkvist accepts a job from wealthy industrialist Henrik Vanger (Sven-Bertil Taube). Blomkvist is asked to investigate the 40-year-old murder of Vanger’s niece, Harriet.
Meanwhile we are introduced to the titled character, Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace), a 24-year-old pierced-and-tattooed computer hacker. Shortly after we meet her, she is assaulted by her new financial guardian, Bjurman (Peter Andersson). This sicko controls and insulted her, then we all bring to the most epic scene in this movie.
How these two threads are twisted together is part of the film’s charm. Eventually the disgraced journalist and the hacker come together as a team.
While Michael Nygvist gives a solid performance as the resolute reporter, the film belongs to Noomi Rapace, who creates one of the most fascinating screen creations in recent memory. As a victim of violence during her childhood, Lisbeth thinks of love as a dangerous emotion. The storytelling intelligent, and the two leads are endlessly watchable.
Heard about the remake by David Fincher…well-oh…no need to wait :P, because this Swedish is already perfect-O
